Founder's Reflections #20: What Music and Art Does for Our Soul—And What Should Christians Do About It? A Jesus24365 Ministry feature on Jesus24365.org.

Dear Beloved Jesus24365 Community,

Good morning, and welcome to another Founder’s Reflections! I’m so thrilled you’re here—whether you’ve been journeying with us since Jesus24365 began just two weeks ago or are joining us for the first time today. God is already doing something incredible through this ministry, and it fills my heart with gratitude to share this space with you.

Let me ask you something: has a song ever stopped you in your tracks? Maybe it brought tears to your eyes, comforted you in a difficult season, or filled your heart with worship. Music has a way of reaching the deepest parts of our souls like nothing else can. It’s not just sound; it’s a gift from God—an expression of His love that connects us to His presence, His truth, and His grace.

As you read this reflection, I invite you to think about the role music has played in your life. What songs have comforted you, inspired you, or drawn you closer to God? Music speaks to us all uniquely, and I’d love to hear your story.

Today, we’re focusing on music—how it transforms us, inspires us, and helps us live out our faith. While we’ll explore other creative gifts like art, books, and film in future reflections, this week is all about the melodies, harmonies, and lyrics that stir our hearts and draw us closer to our Savior.

Why Music Moves Our Souls

Music is a universal language, created by God to touch the deepest parts of who we are. Think about how a worship song can lift your spirit, a hymn can bring you to tears, or a melody can help you feel God’s presence in a way words alone cannot.

In my life, music has been a constant source of strength and connection. Growing up, I was surrounded by Pop Rock, with artists like The Beatles, Carole King, and Bruce Springsteen shaping the soundtrack of my youth. My first concert—a serendipitous Beach Boys ticket found on the ground—sparked a lifelong love for music.

But my first Christian concert holds a special place in my heart. Last Christmas, I saw Zach Williams perform at The Riverside Theatre, and what a night it was! Sitting in the second row, I felt the power of his music in a way that touched my soul. The sound of Zach’s voice, raw and full of conviction, filled the theater. Sitting so close, I could see every expression, every moment of passion as he sang. Songs like There Was Jesus and Fear Is a Liar weren’t just beautiful; they were worship, lifting my heart to God.

To make the experience even more meaningful, I gifted tickets to friends as Christmas presents, creating a memory we’ll treasure for a lifetime. Music has a way of doing that—bringing people together, building relationships, and reminding us of God’s presence in every moment.

A Special Moment: Zach Williams at The Riverside Theatre

I captured a short video clip during the concert, and I’d love to share it with you. May it inspire your heart as much as it inspired mine!

As you watch the clip, I’d love to hear how it speaks to your heart. Did it remind you of a favorite worship song or a special moment of connection with God? Share your thoughts in the comments below.

During that concert, as Zach sang of Jesus’ sacrifice and unending love, I couldn’t help but think of John 3:16. The power of music brought the verse to life in a way that touched my soul deeply:

“For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

When we sing of God’s love, it becomes real to us. Each note, each lyric, is a reminder of His sacrifice and the eternal life we have through Jesus Christ.

Today's Takeaways:

Today’s reflection will show you how music is not just an art form, but a God-given tool that:

Transforms Lives

Music has the power to move us, heal us, and inspire us in ways nothing else can. Think of a song that comforted you in a dark season or lifted your spirits in a time of worship. Through music, God touches our hearts in profound ways.

Draws Us Closer to God

Singing hymns or listening to worship music isn’t just a passive activity—it’s an active form of worship. Music allows us to express our love for God with our whole being, fulfilling the call of verses like John 3:16 to focus on His great love for us.

Deepens Our Understanding of Scripture

Many worship songs are rooted in Scripture, embedding God’s Word in our hearts and minds. Singing these truths helps us meditate on His promises throughout the day.

Unites Us in Worship

Music connects us as the Body of Christ, whether we’re singing together in church, at a concert, or even apart but listening to the same song. It reminds us that we’re part of something greater—God’s Kingdom.

What Should We Do About It?

Just as John 3:16 reminds us of God’s sacrificial love for us, our response should be to live that love fully—including through the way we create, listen to, and share music. Here are some ways you can let music reflect His love in your life:

Create Music That Honors God

If you’re a musician, songwriter, or simply someone who enjoys singing, consider how you can use your voice or talent to glorify God.

Listen with Discernment

Music is powerful, and what we listen to matters. Fill your mind and heart with music that encourages your faith, uplifts your spirit, and aligns with God’s Word.

Use Music to Deepen Your Devotional Life

Worship music can help guide your time with God, making your personal devotions more meaningful.

Support Christian Musicians

Christian artists pour their hearts into creating music that glorifies God, but they need encouragement and support to continue their work.

Looking Forward to Next Week

This past Sunday, we shared Art of Grace #1, which paired John 3:16 with Zach Williams’ album Survivor: Live at Harding Prison. If you missed it, you can still check it out under the Art of Grace tab above and be inspired by how music reflects the beauty of God’s gift to us.

Next Sunday, in Art of Grace #2, we’ll explore Matthew 22:37, connecting this powerful verse with Julie Meyer’s album God is Alive. Through music and artwork, we’ll reflect on the Greatest Commandment and how it shapes our worship.

On Wednesday, Spiritual Nourishment - Midweek Devotional #2 will pair Matthew 22:37 with four Psalms that emphasize loving God with all your heart, soul, and mind. Alongside these passages, we’ll explore a song that brings these truths to life, giving you a midweek moment to pause, reflect, and worship.

And next Friday, I’ll continue sharing another topic that has impacted me during the week as I lead Jesus24365 Ministry. Whether it’s art, food, health, business, politics, the Hero’s Journey, or Every Moment Every Day living out What Would Jesus Do?, I’ll share reflections on how to view life through the lens of faith.

A Weekend Filled with Worship

May the songs you hear this weekend rise like a prayer, filling your heart with God’s unshakable love. Let the melodies of faith fill your home, lifting your spirit and drawing you closer to the One who loves you more than words—or notes—can ever express.

If this reflection has blessed you, share a comment—even a simple Amen can inspire others. And if you feel led, pass it on to a friend or post it on social media. You never know how your encouragement might draw someone closer to Jesus.

For His Kingdom,

Jeff Neubauer❤️
