A teacher's bench becomes holy ground when seen through the eyes of trust, faith, mercy, worship, and joy.

🌸 Glimpses of Grace #36 | Lily #6 – Playground Blessings
📅 Monday, May 19, 2025
✍️ Written by Jeff Neubauer, Founder of Jesus24365 Ministry
A holy moment in the hum of a playground—where scraped knees meet grace and giggles carry the sound of heaven.
Where Jesus Would Sit
If Jesus walked into your neighborhood today, where would He go? Would He head straight for the pulpit—or would He sit quietly on a park bench, beside a playground full of noisy, wonderful children?
If you ask Lily, the answer is clear: He’d be right here.
Because here’s the secret: Jesus never looked past children to find something “more important.” He stopped, stooped down, and called them close.
“Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” – Matthew 19:14
And Lily, in her quiet, patient way, has made that her ministry. She doesn’t preach from a stage. She listens on the swing set.
She wipes tears. She ties shoes. She listens to the questions we adults are too afraid to ask.
Because while grown-ups argue about theology, kids ask, “Does Jesus like dinosaurs?” and “If I mess up, will He still love me?”

And those might be the most honest prayers on earth.
The Comic: “Playground Blessings”
The frame captures Lily on a bench, watching children play. A scraped-kneed girl runs past her, laughing, while another child offers half a sandwich to a friend. Nearby, a boy scribbles a cross in chalk beside the slide, his fingers stained with color and reverence.
The quote inside the panel reads:
“Every swing is like flying with God.”
And maybe that’s what the church needs to remember: grace isn’t just in liturgy—it’s in Legos, tag, and boo-boo kisses. It’s in the creak of the swing, the rhythm of the jump rope, the praise whispered between laughs.
3 Devotions From the Playground
1. Matthew 18:3“Unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.”
💬 Lily’s Reflection: “Children don’t fake trust. They just leap.”
Consider This:
When did you last approach God with childlike honesty?
Have you traded curiosity for control?
2. Proverbs 22:6“Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.”
💬 Lily’s Reflection: “The best lessons are caught, not taught.”
Consider This:
What are kids around you “catching” from your example?
Are you modeling grace or just demanding it?
3. Psalm 8:2“From the lips of children and infants you have ordained praise...”
💬 Lily’s Reflection: “Some of the purest worship I’ve ever heard came through sticky fingers and sidewalk chalk.”
Consider This:
Do you silence children to keep things “orderly,” or invite them to lead us in praise?
Could your quiet moment with a child become someone’s first picture of Jesus?
For the Kids… and for Us
This entry may look like it’s for children. But let’s be honest: we’re the ones who forgot what it’s like to run to Jesus without hesitation.
The playground teaches us things the boardroom never could:
Grace doesn’t just fall like scraped knees—it gets up like one too.
Joy isn’t earned—it’s received.
And sometimes the loudest witness is a kid sharing their last fruit snack.
Let’s not age out of wonder. Let’s not outgrow grace. Let’s listen as Jesus would—with delight, patience, and eyes at their level.
This Week’s Challenge👟
Sit with a child—don’t correct them, just listen
🖍️ Ask a kid what they think Jesus is like. Write it down.
🎒 Offer kindness where it’s not expected: the checkout lane, the classroom, the neighborhood sidewalk.
🩸 Volunteer at your church’s children’s ministry.
🚖 Pray like a child would—no filters, just honesty.
Ponder This Today🧠
If Jesus says the kingdom belongs to children… what are we doing to get closer to their example?

💬 How Has God Stirred Your Heart?
If Lily’s story sparked even the smallest reflection, don’t let it fade—pass it forward:
That teacher sowing seeds of grace.
That parent wondering if it’s enough.
That mentor who shows up in the small moments.
That teen trying to believe again.
That elder remembering joy from long ago.
📤 Share this with the one person you thought of.
Because Jesus still works through giggles and scraped knees.
Every conversation, every act of obedience, every time you pause to reflect—this is how revival begins.
The world isn’t short on noise—it’s starved for light.
You carry that light. Pass it on.
